1^st Annual Freedom and Independence Art Show

This exhibition is a joint effort between Paul DeSilvey and Olde Towne Arts Center to present the selected work of our regional students in a juried exhibition. Students age 15 and up are invited to submit up to 3 jpeg images for consideration. Below are important dates and guidelines.

Eligibility:

Students age 15 and up (including college, university and high school students) living within the Northshore area are eligible. Up to 3 entries can be entered by individual artists. All entries must be original works of the entering artists and have been completed within the past year. The work cannot have previously been exhibited in another Olde Towne Arts Center exhibition.

Entry Fee: $20 per entry, checks payable to: Olde Towne Arts Center.

Jurors: Jeff Mickey and Jean Flint from Southeastern Louisiana University and Malcolm Mansour from University of New Orleans

Freedom and Independence dates:

Exhibition: June 26th, 2009 to July 15th, 2009

Entry fee, Artist’s Agreement, images and PR material due (Jpeg of works, photo of artist, optional brief artist statement and bio): May 23^rd, 2009

Artists’ notification emailed: June 10th, 2009

Accepted work due at OTAC (300 Robert ST., Slidell, LA 70458): June 17, 2009

Opening Reception: June 26th, 2009 at 7:00pm

All work must be picked up by: July 22nd, 2009

Freedom and Independence Artist Agreement

Olde Towne Arts Center Gallery Policies:

Each work should be marked with artist’s name, contact info, price and title of work. All 2-D work must be ready to hang with wire securely attached. Sculpture should be well constructed and include a base if necessary. Special hanging/installation requirements may require artist’s assistance.

OTAC has no insurance for artwork; all artists are responsible for insuring their own work, if desired.

OTAC reserves the right to publish artist and artwork images and information for publicity purposes.

All art accepted for Independence and Freedom must remain in the exhibition for the entire duration of the exhibition. Artists are responsible for the delivery of accepted artwork by 6/17/09 and the pickup of sold and unsold artwork by 7/22/09. Works not picked up by this date will become the property of the OTAC and may be disposed of or given away.

Sales of Artwork:

Please initial OTAC commission:

: a 35% commission to OTAC from each piece sold. (Please price each piece with a minimum of $20 to make tax and paper work justified.)

If your gallery requires a percentage, please negotiate this prior to 6/26/09 with Charlotte Collins, Director.

OPEN POTTERY STUDIO

Open to all past and current OTAC pottery students

Five Saturdays

from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Beginning March 14^th through April 11^th

STUDIO FEES:

$20.00 per 3-hour session

$35.00 per box of clay (full boxes only)

*$3.00 bisque firing fee for pieces 10” and under in all dimensions (for kiln protection, OTAC only fires clay and glazes purchased at our facility)

*$4.00 glaze firing fee for pieces 10” and under in all dimensions (for kiln protection, OTAC only fires clay and glazes purchased at our facility)

There is a maximum 6 people per session.
